The Beginning and the End
A Sonnet by Lucille Illustre
Before the Rose was there to bloom,
the Seed was there, planted in the Orchard of Pomegranates, and it was the very beginning of You.
Before the child was there to live,
the Seed of Life was there, fermented at the womb, and it was the beginning of You.
Before the Sun was there to set,
The Void of Dawn in its stillness reigns, and it was the beginning of You.
Before the Spoken Word came tumbling out of Your Divine Lips,
It lay hidden at the very bosom of Silence, and it was the beginning of You.
You are the First and the Last,
Besides You there is none!
Oh Primal Source, let me realize this truth,
and let You be my first and only Love;
Betroth me unto Thee, and release my Soul not;
For You, O Beloved, are the Source of this Being.
From whence it came,
Unto It will it peacefully return!
